Meet Camilla
Camilla (she/her) is an interdisciplinary artist from the North Shore of Boston whose work captivates and challenges through its emotional depth and innovative techniques. She holds an MFA in Photography from the Rhode Island School of Design and a BFA from Lesley Art and Design where she is now a Part-time Professor of Photography.
Camilla found solace and expression in photography during a challenging time in her life. For 15 years she experienced undiagnosed chronic pain and health complications. Finally in 2020, Camilla was diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease, endometriosis, and hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome.
These full-body, multi-system diseases have no cures and limited treatments. Facing a new reality and on her doctors' advice, she decided to leave her decade-long career as an editorial and commercial photographer to begin making and selling cyanotypes.
Blue, a color often associated with access and disability, plays a significant role in her work, symbolizing both her personal journey and the themes of the brand. The themes of Dilly reflect Camilla’s artistic vision: playfulness, sophistication, sustainability, and community. Each product is designed to help people create meaningful and thoughtful connections, embodying the spirit of joy and elegance that defines Camilla’s work.
Through Dilly, Camilla brings her unique blend of playfulness and sophistication, creating pieces that are as meaningful as they are beautiful.
Camilla lives and works in Nahant, Massachusetts with her husband, Josh, their two Australian Shepherds, Yoko and Gibson, and their cat, Linda McCatney.
The Meaning of Dilly: Delight in Life's Moments
The word "Dilly" carries a special significance. In its most traditional sense, it means something remarkable or outstanding—qualities that perfectly describe Camilla’s artistic creations. But for Camilla, Dilly or Dills are cherished nicknames from her childhood. As a baby, her family affectionately called her "silly dilly," a playful moniker that has stayed with her throughout her life.
